Corn Palace Festival

Software: Illustrator, Photoshop

As the first campaign project of the degree program, our instructor chose a little-known event that takes place in South Dakota. Each year, the World’s Only Corn Palace in Mitchell holds a festival to unveil the annual mural design made entirely of corn that spans the exterior walls. The Corn Palace is open to the public year-round, but the festival is the biggest celebration of the year bringing many local communities together.

The focus of this design was to create an illustrative and friendly representation of the corn palace that could be translated across the three deliverables: the primary poster, teaser flyer, and informational brochure. The textured blue background, illustrated corn kernel motifs, and allusions to the husk work together to create a consistent style throughout the campaign.
